Following the hugely successful Depeche Mode Remix contest, Beatport is proud to present Yello as the second band in our Legends of Electronic Music remix contest series.

For the first time ever, Beatport is offering producers the chance to remix not one, but two songs by a pioneering electronic music group. Users are able to select from two available classic Yello songs, and can create a remix of one or both tracks.

The opportunity
On November 17th, 2009, Beatport will make available for download the stems of ǃÚBostichǃ٠the bandǃÙs break through classic and a favorite of many Yello fans, and ǃÚOh YeahǃÙ, the bandǃÙs biggest commercial hit to date. ǃÚOh Yeahǃ٠was featured in Hollywood movies like ǃÚFerris BuellerǃÙs Day OffǃÙ, ǃÚBeverly Hills CopǃÙ, ǃÚThe Secret Of My Successǃ٠and several others.

ǃ?The world of electronic music would not be what it is today without a few visionary pioneers like Yello. This band helped create a new sound, entirely based on synthesizers and samplersǃ? stated Ronny Krieger, BeatportǃÙs Chief Programming Officer.

This is an amazing opportunity for all aspiring producers to join the likes of Carl Cox, The Orb, and Moby by putting their own spin on YelloǃÙs classic electronic tracks.

The prizes
The winners will be divided into 2 categories; users voted (based on number of spins) and editorial winners (picked by YelloǃÙs management and Tiger Records). Each category will select their favorite ǃÚBostichǃ٠and ǃÚOh Yeahǃ٠remix to receive:

Among these four winning entries, Yello will then choose their favorite winning ǃÚBostichǃ٠and ǃÚOh Yeahǃ٠remix to be released on Tiger Records as well as their favorite remix overall to receive the grand prize of:

The stages
1. November 17th – November 23rd: Download phase – The remix parts of Yello – Bostich Remix Contest and/or Yello – Oh Yeah Remix Contest. You may purchase the stems bundled at $4.99 USD each.

2. November 24th – December 7th: Upload/Submission phase – Upload your remix to Beatportal to www.beatportal.com/remix. During this phase the entries can be listened to, but not voted for.

3. December 8th – December 22nd 2009: Voting phase – The public votes for their favorite remixes by ǃÚspinningǃ٠them.

After a period of deliberation, the winner will be announced on or around January 5th, 2010.

The rules
1. Download the remix parts to Yello – Bostich Remix Contest and/or Yello – Oh Yeah Remix Contest from November 17th, 2009 – November 23rd, 2009. You may purchase the stems bundled at $4.99 USD each. NOTE: You do not need to download the WAV files to enter the remix contest.

2. Remix the track into your chosen style. All genres are welcome.

3. Submit your remix to BeatportalǃÙs remix page. MP3 files sizes are limited and may be no larger than 10 MB.

4. The download phase begins November 17th, 2009 and ends November 23rd, 2009.

5. The submission phase begins on November 24th, 2009 at 12.01AM MST and ends December 7th, 2009 at 11.59PM MST.

6. The voting phase starts on December 8th, 2009 at 12.01AM MST and ends on December 22nd, 2009 at 11.59pm MST.

7. The winners will be divided into 2 categories; users voted (based on number of spins) and editorial winners (picked by YelloǃÙs management and Tiger Records). Each category will select their favorite ǃÚBostichǃ٠and ǃÚOh YeahǃÙ. 8. Remixes using ǃÚunclearedǃ٠samples will be disqualified. An ǃÚuncleared sampleǃ٠is a musical work, loop or sample that you do not own the copyright for (ie: you didnǃÙt create it). You are free to use sounds that were created by you.

9. All remixes submitted for this contest become the legal property of Yello and Tiger Records. Your remix contest submission becomes the legal property of the record label hosting the competition as protection against the release of unauthorized remixes.

10. All trademarks and logos are protected. All rights of the producer and the owner of the recorded work are reserved. Unauthorized copying, hiring, renting, public performance and broadcasting of this record, remix or remix parts is prohibited.”
